I got a job as a Telecom contractor for the government a few months ago and am approaching roughly 6mos. The most I have done in this job is install VOIP phones and do the BARE minimum of replacing patches cables and messing with ports. Most of my time is sitting around and waiting for something to happen or get requests for phones.
My question is, from this role, can I really grow? Most people here have been here for years and it's very difficult geting into other fields here. I have a AS in Network Engineering and I'm planning on studying and getting my CCNA during downtime but tbh alot of my time is wasted watching yt or doing something unrelated. I really want to get into configuring and/or deploying switches and stuff like that...
